Little Lost Star

Little lost star, a poem about miscarriage

2 lines is all I knew of you
2 lines to know I love you
Serendipitous surprise
A sparkle in my eyes

I knew you were with me before the test
I felt you with me and knew I was blessed
2 lines confirmed your life had begun
2 hearts in me, beating as one

Little Brother or sister for my two
A third and final, I thought that was you
Boy or Girl we’ll never know
For some unknown reason you just didn’t grow

The unexpected excitement that we would be
A family with 2 parents, and children, three
I saw you laughing, growing, smiling, in my dreams,
But it wasn’t meant to be, or so it seems

You were lost so quickly and before I knew it
I realised I loved you more than I could admit
I felt so empty, couldn’t hold back the tears
Blaming myself and full of fears

I looked to my children to find some solace
But my thoughts turned to you and your missed promise
I hold my miracles close, understanding how precious they are
You were my miracle too, but now your my little lost star

2 lines is all I knew of you
2 lines to know I love you
Serendipitous surprise
The saddest of goodbyes
